Maker's Mark is encouraging people to get out and vote with their latest commemorative bottle. I purchased mine last week, which looks just like the one above. I later found out there are two versions, the one above, and one that is blue, white and red. I wish I could have purchased the latter, but oh well. Oh, if I could just get it signed by Obama, that would bring some democratic legitimacy to it. Be sure to catch the Maker's Mark Rock the Vote Tour bus in Lexington Oct. 30--31 and Louisville 11/1--11/5, and of course, vote!

By the way, I will be sure and keep Jeremy's brother away from this commemorative bottle so that he doesn't drink it! Who drinks commemorative bottles of Maker's? People from Ohio that have to ask for help with even opening the bottles, that's who!

This past weekend was pretty busy. Sushi with Tom on Friday night followed by Octoberfest at Christ the King. We missed the performance by Todd Snider, unfortunately, but caught Sam Bush, which was a refreshing mix between bluegrass, rock and reggae. We ran into the usual Octoberfest participants, BT, the College and her posse, as well as some of the Bunco ladies. I took video on my phone of Mitch trying to hoolihoop, but the video was a little dark and didn't turn out so well...maybe next year. Also, maybe next year, I will remember to not drink KY Ale. WTF? I only drank two beers and felt like I drank 12 the next morning. What is in that stuff?

We traveled to the lovely town of Campbellsville (home of J.B. Holmes) this past weekend for my BFF, Angela's, wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception. I've never seen a happier bride. The reception was held at a lodge on Green River Lake. I wish Angela and Casey (a.k.a Steve) many, many years of happiness. We, along with the Mexics who were also in attendance, are tentatively planning a camping trip to Green River. Like the dress, LA?

After meeting our neighbor's white German Shepherd dogs several years ago, I found that this breed was super intelligent and beautiful. I was googling white German Shepherds the other night and came across Debbie's Dixieland Kennels. Does anyone else detect some not so PC undertone?

I realized this morning, starting with last Saturday, we will have be/been staying somewhere other than our own bed, for four consecutive Saturdays. Oy vey! Last Saturday, we stayed at my parent's house since we were in town for my cousin's wedding, which by the way was over the top. I'm talking photo booth and m & m's with images of the happy couple and their dog on the tiny candies! This Saturday we are going to OH to the outlets (woo hoo!) and to watch the Buckeyes play the Trojans, albeit from Caly. It will be so much fun to watch the game with more than just one other Buckeye fan!

Next Saturday, the wedding season for this year comes to an end, when we travel to Campbellsville, to see one of my best friend's from law school, Angela, tie the knot. Finally, the last Saturday of September will be spent in Austin, TX for the ACL Music Festival. I can't wait. I have never been to Austin, but from everything I've heard and read, it should be a nice time.

No, I'm not talking about Dara Torres, but Washington State University's Cougar Gold Cheese! Some of the best cheese ever is pert' near ready to be shipped to Kentucky. We first discovered the goodness of Cougar Gold when visiting our friends Bill and Laura, in Moscow, Idaho, in March 2001. Bill and Laura are both professors at WSU. One of my funniest memories from the trip is when in Bill took us to see the grizzly bear sanctuary on campus. We saw the sanctuary, but no bears. I pointed out to Bill, the PhD, that they may still be hibernating. He agreed and I felt super smart!

thaKing has become quite the photography hobbyist. It seems like every other week a new piece of camera equipment is being delivered to my office. I am totally encouraging him to become a really excellent photographer and start shooting weddings. Do you know how much photographers charge for weddings?! I totally appreciate the reasoning...you have a limited time to get those necessary shots, and if you don't, you have to listen to the bridzilla bitch until the cows come home. thaKing now has his first wedding tentatively booked for 8/15/09. He is doing it for free to get the experience and add to his portfolio. I think he should check out Southern Weddings , and the always impressive, Melani Mauer for inspiration. Then look at our wedding album for 'what not to do'.

How cute are these? Even the ferrets are getting into the democratic spirit! I purchased two of these off etsy for Jeremy and Dr. Z. I bet there are no "MOOSE FOR PALIN" buttons.
